REPORT #8: My Extensive List of Copenhagen & Stockholm Recs
Share

This week’s letter includes my very detailed list of Copenhagen and Stockholm recs - where to stay, eat, shop, what to see, what to wear, where to stroll… you name it, it’s there. Enjoy!

REPORT ✨

Reading: The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. This is an incredible debut novel that marries historical fiction, time travel, and an otherworldly love story. I couldn't put it down. It’s so refreshing to witness a new writer pack a punch on their first try. If you liked The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, you’ll love this book. And the BBC is already working on adapting it into a series. Can’t wait to hear who they are planning to cast as the sexy and irresistible lover, Captain Gore.

Eating: Visiting Stockholm & Copenhagen this past week made me realize that we (at least in NYC) are NOT eating REAL FOOD??? I tasted a strawberry and it was nearly the equivalent to those videos of babies eating ice cream for the first time.

Proud Of: Felix agreeing to get a facial. I have my best friend Stephanie’s wedding this weekend and a rosacea flare up, so I called up Tracie Martyn for a treatment and asked Felix if he wanted to join (because men need to be pampered too!!). We both got the “Red Carpet Facial” and he’s looking snatched. It was a fun couples activity lmao. Use my code: SERENAK20.

Obsessed With:

  • I can’t stop reaching for this Doen dress. It’s so versatile - wear it casually during the day or dress it up at night. Great for summers in the city or traveling around Europe.

  • Invest in this camera before it sells out again. Your IG grid will thank you.

  • Just ordered these. Thong sandals are hot for summer and this price is amazing.

  • I bring this conversation starter on every trip I go on. Awkward pauses, goodbye!

  • HELSA dupe. The blue color is also a vibe and you can wear it with the thong sandals (see above).

  • I scored this Toteme trench in Sweden and it’s very quickly become a staple in my closet.

  • This is the spray I used when I felt a cold sore growing on my face (FYI, I also basically overdosed on my Valtrex prescription, but I think this antibacterial spray helped).

Streaming: Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal (Netflix). By now, we know Netflix has perfected the pop-culture documentary genre. Even if the subject of one of their docs is not crime related, they make it feel so suspenseful that the viewer feels like people’s lives are on the line. In this case, it’s not people’s lives, but people’s LIES that we are witnessing. And not lies from the users of a website (aka married folks who cheat on their spouses). That’s just the entry point. As you watch the three episodes, your mouth will drop as you discover how deep the deception is for everyone involved: the users, the “women” on the site, the company’s management, etc. You cannot believe anyone, but you can trust me when I tell you to go watch it right now.

Traveling: As global warming continues to make European summers hot as hell, definitely consider Northern Europe as a spring/summer destination. The vibes are impeccable and although there are tourists, it doesn’t feel crowded.

As requested, here are my recs from my trip to Copenhagen & Stockholm.
